Corgan Tri-Mind Portfolio Project For this portfolio project, you must choose one task from each category (Creative, Performance, Analytical) and complete that task. This is due on the day of the unit exam! You have several weeks to work on it (including some class time). Before the exam, you will have to select one of your portfolio pieces that you like the most and present it to the class! Due date will be specified as the end of the unit approaches. Creative Create a movie trailer for The Catcher in the Rye with a focus upon a specific theme in the book (Alienation, Growing up, etc.). Approximately 2 minutes in length. You MAY collaborate with other students for this portion of the portfolio only in order to produce your trailer (no more than 4 students). You must write an individual explanation for why you designed the trailer the way you did. Draw/ design a new cover for The Catcher in the Rye. This design should include two paragraphs: one which explains the significance of the longstanding cover to the text, another which makes a case for why your NEW cover is better suited for the book. Performance Assume the role of Holden Caulfield. We do not get a chance to see Holden talk with his parents about the events that are discussed within the book. Write a letter from him to them, explaining his actions from a personal standpoint. Assume the role of a casting director for a film version of The Catcher in the Rye. Select five of the most important characters, and come up with a list of unique and descriptive characteristics for each. Then select real actors and actresses you would use to fill those roles. Write an explanation for each choice you madeyou must use text evidence for this assignment! Analytical Write an essay on the topic of Holden Caulfields identity throughout the novel which answers the question: does Holden change? The essay should make a clear claim, using the text as evidence to support your claims. Write an essay comparing Salingers novel with another text you have read- this can be a novel, poem, short story, etc. In what ways are the texts similar and different when it comes to themes and characters? Use text evidence (from both texts) to support your claims.
