Dear Connie,

I am excited to be in your class again this semester and find this to be a very interesting
course. It is a lot different than English 1101.
For my daybook, I give myself a B, above average. I feel I deserve this grade because I
have been doing all of my entries on time and with detail. However I dont think I deserve an A
yet because I know I would be able to write more to get that above and beyond. This is
something I hope I can prove to you by the end of the semester.
The first daybook entry I would like to share is my response to exercise 17.9. This is my
ethical argument on how far colleges should go when it comes to campus violence. I find this to
be significant in my daybook because it was my first rough ethical argument piece and I feel I
did a decent job.
The next daybook entry I would like you to look at is my response to exercise 5.13. In
this piece, I discuss how all colleges should help accommodate students with disabilities. I think
this is an interesting piece that I wrote.
My third entry goes along with my last one. In 5.14 we were asked to write the opposite
of what we argued in 5.13, so I wrote how students are abusing the help colleges offer to students
with disabilities by claiming they have disability when they actually dont. I find this to be a
good piece because it shows I can argue both sides.
My last entry is my response to exercise 7.13. In this I wrote a rough draft to how schools
and universities use a gross amount of tuition towards sport teams. I want to show you this one
because I included statistics that I found online which I feel really added to this entry.
For my participation I feel I also deserve a B. Although I am on time to class, I pay
attention, and raise my hand every now and then, I know I could be talking more in group
discussions. Like last semester, I often just need a bit of time to warm up to my classmates. I
plan to participate more in group talks to deserve an A by the time May rolls around.
With my research, I feel I am doing okay. I have gotten quite a bit of sources but I am
having trouble really mapping out what I want to say. I feel with the amount of research Im
finding it will be so easy to go off track in my writing, so I really need to sit down and make a
clear map of what to say without rambling off into things that dont completely relate.
Overall, I give myself a B in this class. Although I am doing a decent job, I know I can
do extra to receive an A, and thats definitely what I will do this second half of the semester. I
am ready to work hard!
Sincerely,

Hannah Williamson
