OnFriday,February27,2009,anemployeeofthePolicePensionFund(PPF)wasswiftlyarrested
duetoasecuritybreachatourDisasterRecoverySite(DRS).Atthetimeofhisarrest,thisindividualhad
in his possession certain business records belonging to this Agency. These business records contained
data about retired and active members of the Police Pension Fund, specifically, data that may have
included personal information such as social security numbers, names, addresses and bank account
data. Even though the property was recovered, we cannot assure you that the information was not
compromised.ItistheresponsibilityoftheFundtoinformyouandexplainwhatstepsyoumaytaketo
protectyourselffromthepossibilityofidentitytheft.Inaddition,undercoveridentitiesandundercover
information WAS NOT compromised, as their datais not maintained at the DRS. Furthermore, anyone
hired after May 2007 are not affected by this breach. All information after that date is encrypted and
thereforenotvulnerable.

Tohelpyouprotectpersonalinformationthatthisdatamayhavecontained,thePolicePension
Fund hasarrangedforyoutoreceivetheEquifaxCreditWatch productfreeofchargefor oneyear.In
ordertoinitiatethiscreditprotection,youmustapplybyJune15,2009.Thisproductisdescribedinthe
enclosedliterature.

Whether or not you choose to take advantage of the offer from the PPF, we recommend that
you read the enclosed consumer alert from the Federal Trade Commission describing additional steps
thatyoucantaketoprotectyourselfagainstidentitytheft.
