2.4 - Understand and respect

Aboriginal and Torres Strait
Islander people to promote
reconciliation between Indigenous
and non-Indigenous Australians

I would like to be able to have a
better understanding of this, as
well as have the ability to
successfully and respectfully teach
this in a classroom setting.
I believe that this is such an
important part of our countrys
heritage and future and it is
important that students have an
understanding of the situation and
how we can improve it for a country
that is not divided.
To further my knowledge on the
subject I would need to be actively
researching and keeping up to date
with the events that take place as
well as developing strategies for
teaching students about indigenous
and non-indigenous Australians
3.7 - Engage parents/ carers in the
educative process

I would like to be more confident in
engaging with parents in the
educative process.
I believe that having parents and
families in the classroom often
promote and further a childs
learning. Families are also an
excellent tool in the classroom for
group work etc.
Develop personal strategies for
involving parents in the educative
process. Gain a better understanding
of the relationships between students
and their families.
4.3 - Manage challenging
behaviour

To consistently provide a learning
environment where students feel
safe and supported to minimise the
risk of challenging behaviour.
In todays classroom there are often a
number of behavioural issues. It is
important that these are dealt with
appropriately in order to maintain a
safe learning environment for all
students.
Create class covenants/list of
expectations that students have
developed as a class. Ensure that
children know they belong to the
class and are supported. Develop
strategies that help me as a teacher,
deal with challenging behaviours.
6.2 - Engage in professional
learning and improve practice

To be engaged and actively involved
in professional development that
with further my ability as a quality
teacher
I believe that it is important to create
the best learning environment
possible so that students can achieve
their absolute best. In order to
achieve this I need to be the best
possible teacher I can be.
Actively involve myself in
professional development. Look at
my practice and ways that I can
improve.
