Reflection

1. Please provide a detailed summary describing the artifact and its purpose.
For our biology class, we went on a field trip to Solstice Canyon in the Santa
Monica Mountains. There we went on a hike and learned the causes and effects
fires have on the wildlife. We also took the temperature of the streams water to
see if it was good enough for all the living little creatures there. The purpose of
this field trip was to become familiar with wildfires and nature itself.

2. Identify and list the GLPO(S) that were satisfied in completing this artifact.
In addition, please explain how these GLPO(S) were met by specifically
referring to the examples or evidence from the artifact.
The GLPO(s) that were satisfied in completing this artifact were Investigating the
World because we identified and asked many questions about wildfires. This is a
global issue because this problem occurs all over the world. Plants and trees get
burned down every year due to wildfires. Whether it's man made fires or by
nature the wildlife is greatly affected by it. I also took action because I went and
personally explored the wildlife.

3. What skills and concepts were learned in completing this artifact and how
have these affected your future?
The concept learned in completing this artifact was that even though fires are
usually always considered bad, they also have their goods. More plants grow in
the areas where there was fire. Many plants even depend on the damage of the
fire. A skill we learned was how to figure out where to run to if a fire was ever to
occur while in the mountains. Another skill we learned was how to take the
temperature of a streams water.

4. Looking back on the completion of this artifact , what might you do
differently if you were able to recreate or revise the final product?
Looking back I dont think I can really do much to recreate the final product since
I went on a hike and didnt actually create something. I guess I could have
participated more and asked more questions. I could have involved myself more
in the discussions rather than simply listening to what others had to say.
