My name is Matilda Tench, I am originally from Melbourne Australia and I am currently studying

at UTEP with a major in kinesiology. The reason I moved to El Paso is because I play tennis for UTEP.

When thinking of dominant culture I tend to think of what culture has the most
control and influences on everyone else that is surrounding that community. When
thinking of which culture is most dominant in America, I see that there is a variety of
cultures that have been brought up and are playing a large role in the American
community, though not all of these cultures are as dominant as the other. In saying this
there is still two main cultures that I believe contribute immensely towards American
culture these groups being Hispanics and religious groups.

Personally I do not believe that I am part of a dominant culture group in the
United States. I see myself more part of the sub culture community. Being born and
raised in a different country has taught me different beliefs, as well as you don't see a
large population of Australian's having any power in America. Australians do not have
much contribute towards America, Compared to the Hispanic population we are minute.
This the main reason why I do not see myself having any power or any say in American
culture, therefore I am not part of the dominant culture.

There is all sorts of dominant cultures in The United States but there are only a
few that stand out to me. I do not see myself as part of a dominant culture nor do I see
myself ever being part of America's dominant culture. Sub culture explains my life style
better then dominant culture.
