We agreed on the definition of sponsors. We selected the Note taker he was
Cris. We discussed the movie. Maruge claimed his right to get education after he
listened to the radio. They announced that the government allowed everyone to go to
school. He didnt give up from going to kids school even thought he had been forced
many times not to attended their because its for children and he is the only adult. The
film also showed the connection between the local and global literacies. By seeing the
connection between Maruge and the Kenyan government and how he is going to
school and gain some sort of literacy. We compared it to Deberah Brandts cases. The
different was that Maruge didnt have a parents or someone to encourage him to
study and gain literacy. Finally we stated three kinds of sponsors and gave example of
each one. Global sponsor like the government, distance sponsors like school, and
Intangible Sponsors like motivation from parents.
