He started boxing at the age of 12
He started boxing because his bike was stolen
Joe Martin was his trainer and the police officer he reported his
stolen bike too
He was born on January 19, 1942 in Louisville, Kentucky
In 1954 he won his first amateur bout by a split decision
In 1956 he won the Golden Gloves Tournament of Champions and
the Amateur Athletic Unions National Title for the light-heavy weight
division
His real name is Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr.
In the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome his fight record was 100 wins
and 5 losses
He won the gold by defeating the Polish Zbigniew Pietrzkowski

FAMILY
His father was Cassius Marcellus clay Sr.
His mother was Odessa Grady Clay
He was the oldest of three sons
He had 4 wives and 9 children in all
His daughter Laila Ali is the only child of his to be a boxer.
She is famous in womens boxing.
As a young boy he trained 6 days a week and had raw
eggs and milk for breakfast.
