Introduction/ thesis: Education crosses class boundaries because high-class people have
more access to educational programs, their test scores are higher, and low-class people
have more restrictions towards their education.
I. First paragraph: More access to education programs because
High-class high schools can afford programs to help them improve their
grades such as tutoring
Being more school involved helps them stay out of trouble and stay
determined in school
Quote from Robert K. Ream article (p.241, top page)
II. Second Paragraph: Higher test scores because
High-class people do not need a job to distract them because parents have
high incomes
Resources their school has like a good library
III. Third paragraph: low class people have more restrictions because
Society still segregates individuals a little (some articles from Chicano
studies)
Their high school might not have access like computers and textbooks
(the movie freedom writers)
Ream quote (p. 243, bottom of page)
IV. Fourth paragraph: contradiction:
Low class studies have higher test scores than the wealthier individuals
because they want to better their future
High class people slack off because they do not want to follow parents
foot steps (completely different career)

Annotated Bibliography
Bond, George Clement. "Social Economic Status and Educational Achievement: A Review
Article." Anthropology &Amp; Education Quarterly, 12.4 (1981): 227-257.
In the journal article Social economic status and Educational Achievement explains that
income is not the only reason the lower class people get lower test score. Bond explains how
premature babies affect all social class systems because it affects the babys intellectual
development. This article describes that lower class people start to fall behind math and English.
Since the social classes perform different in school, the lower class starts falling behind because
of their nutrition, genetic, culture, and unequal treatment. Bond explains the lower class students
to little children because he describes them as people who lack a lot of knowledge and cannot
grasp the information they are getting taught. The author explains how low class students only
think in concrete terms. This journal article will help me with my paper because it explains why
the low-income people score lower on tests in different educational perspectives.
Ream, Robert K, and Gregory J Palardy. "Reexamining Social Class Differences
in the Availability and the Educational Utility of Parental Social Capital."
American Educational Research Journal, 45.2 (2008): 238-273.
The journal article Reexamining Social Class Differences in the Availability and the Education
Utility of Parental Social Capital explains how the high class and middle class families have
more access to good educational programs than the low class society. Ream explains how the
students who have parents with high incomes have more advantages for education because the
parents are more involved in the students life at home and at school. Parenting choices have a
big impact on the way the student performs in school. Low class families are very limited on
interacting and communicating with one another than the middle and high-class society. This
journal article will help me with my paper because it has a large amount of information about
different social classes. Not only does it explain the parents income but it explains how parental
choices creates a big impact on the students education life and home life.
