Reflection #2


What is the preferred school climate?

I believe in having at atmosphere that is welcoming to every single child, parent, or
member of the community. This means being vulnerable with my students and
allowing everyone to be true to who they are. It is only when children feel safe and
secure in their environment that they will be able to learn at their full capacity.

What is your image of the teacher?

I believe that a teacher needs to be a mentor. This means that teachers guide
students to self-discovery, and helps the child grow in every way. Mentors
themselves are supposed to be both a support friend, and someone who constantly
pushes you to bring your life to a newer and better level. This is the teacher that I
will become.

What should be the nature and substance of student work?

I believe that students need to have hands on work that allows them to formulate
and solve their own questions. This way, students are both responsible for their
learning and able to learn what they feel is important to them.


In my future classroom, I plan on incorporating all of these aspects. Children
deserve to have a strong supportive leader, be able to solve their own questions, and
do so in an environment that they feel safe and secure.
