Challenges


1. To restrict the blast timing within 1500MS , oscillation > 1500 MS would have been detrimental for
FRS structure & LA-1 site quarters and hutments




1. Indigenously designed with the help of Srinivas Kompella of M/s Orica Ltd.

2. 3 simulations with ShotPlus I to determine the burden relief and restricting the overlapping of holes .
Only 8 overlaps were there in a blast of 428 holes which is negligible.

3. A joint decision over initiation sequence was frozen one day in advance .

4. Five and half hours of field execution led to the completion of blast within stipulated period of 1 PM


5. Conventional shock tube initiating system was adopted and a cost advantage of approx. Rs. 5 Lakhs
was achieved over electronic initiation system.

6. Excellent muck pile and fragmentation was achieved
