Tavi Gevinson is a 17 year old, writer, magazine editor, actress and
singer. Raised in Oak Park, Illinois. She received public attention after
she started a fashion blog at the age of 12 entitled Style Rookie. She
shifted her focus from fashion to pop culture and feminist discussion by starting her online magazine,
Rookie Magazine which targets young girls. She has appeared in 2011 and 2012 on the Forbes 30 under

feminism meaning gender equality. She has been featured in some publications as a modern female
hero. She emphasizes the importance of self-empowerment. She appeared in the movie Enough Said in
