This delightful city is home to the oldest
university in Germany. It was severely
damaged by wars in the 17th century wars,
but was rebuilt in the 18th century placing
an emphasis on Baroque style buildings.
Within the city there are many sites to see
including the Heidelberg Castle "which is
considered the heart of the city#, the Alte
Bridge that was build in the 18th century,
and the student jail that was built in the
16th century to keep mischievous students
from the university o$ the streets.

whisk you to a place of fantasy that
will bring out your inner child.
HEIDELBERG
Between the cities of Koblenz and
Bingen is this 65 kilometer river often
known as the Romantic Rhine since
it is surrounded by castles and
vineyards, creating a fairy tale% like
atmosphere. This gorge used to be
part of an important trade rout for
hundreds of years. Many of the
castles surrounding the gorge were
built to collect tolls from passing
travelers. The highest point of the
gorge is known as Lorelei Rock
which is the sight of the myth of
Lorelei the nymph.
This city is home to the famous
Neuschwanstein Castle. It was built
for King Ludwig II, but he only
stayed there for 11 nights before he
died. The building was designed by a
theatrical designer named Christins
Jank who pulled inspiration from
Wagner's operas. After Ludwig's
death, the castle was opened to the
public and it soon became the most
photographed building in the world.
The Sleeping Beauty castle, created
by Walt Disney, was inspired by the
Neuschwanstein Castle. Now days,
the castle is a$ectionately called the
most beautiful castle in the world.
THE BEAUTI FUL CI TI ES OF GERMANY
So many of Germany's cities are lled with centuries of beauty and history. These cities are
perfect examples of such beauty and historical signicance.
COLOGNE:
Famous for its twin spired cathedral, Cologne is
Germany's fourth largest city. It is known for its
architecture and museum landscape. The city has many
great activities, such as a sports stadium, year%round
beer halls in old town, and a spring time carnival.
LBECK:
This city was founded in 1143 and was the rst western
city on the Baltic coast and is entirely surrounded by
water. Its name stands for Justice, Freedom, and
Prosperity. It is famous for the Holsten gate and has
seven towers and ve churches in old town. Every year
the city hosts the Schleswig% Holstein music festival.
DRESDEN:
This city is commonly known as the Florence of the
north. It is located next to the to the Elbe River.
However, in 1945 the city was bombed leaving most of it
destroyed. Since then the city has been rebuilt including
iconic buildings like the Zwinger and the Frauenkirch.
