Requirements for the Final Draft: bring the Final draft + rough draft with my notes in a folder. All revisions MUST BE highlighted. MLA, Times New Roman, 1 margins, 12 font. Upload a digital word document to Moodle (there will be a forum) as well as uploading a version to your Weebly site.
This will be an argumentative and analysis based essay of Drew Magary's The Postmortal. This prompt requires that you interpret an aspect of this text through close reading. Prompts: A) Write an argumentative essay that further explores an issue highlighted in the novel or argues for a particular interpretation of the novel. Locate an important theme/issue/idea in the text. Create an argument for how it functions in the book. How does it develop throughout the story? What effect does it have on the plot and characters? B) The book can be seen as criticizing certain social aspects. Pick a specific modern theme that can be found currently. What is the books interpretation of the issue? Do you Agree/Disagree (or Both) with the criticism? Define whats being critiqued Define the books stance Take a side What do the media and outside sources say? How does this inform your opinion? Requirements: There must be a thesis that makes a larger argument then just literary analysis. The thesis MUST be underlined. Since this is a close read of a text you must use quotes (no more the 25% of the essay can be quotes, they must be relevant, they must be properly formatted, NO DROP QUOTES) You must include a Works Cited page (including the primary source- The Postmortal) Outside source requirement: 2 academic and 2 reliable non-academic 6 page minimum
