This document describes an experimental setup called the Combined Refrigeration and Water Distillation System (CORDS). It uses a conventional Vapour Absorption System with the addition of a thermoelectric device to power water circulation without external power. The system provides both refrigeration and distilled water using water as the refrigerant and salt as the pressure intensifier. It has a Generator, Condenser, Capillary, Evaporator, and Mixing chamber. For experiments, the Generator is powered by electricity, but it is intended to use solar energy or biogas in applications. The Condenser cools water and provides preheated water as a byproduct. Distilled water is produced from the open Evapor

In recent years due to awareness of energy management and ecological issues we focus on multipurpose equipments which use non conventional energy sources. This project is an innovative experimental setup based on conventional Vapour Absorption System (VAS). This refrigerating system provides refrigerating effect along with distilled water. Similar to Einstein-Szilard refrigeration system this system also needs no external power as it incorporates a thermoelectric device capable of producing power from waste heat for circulating water. Refrigerant used is water with salt as pressure intensifier. Main Components are similar to vapour absorption system like Generator, Condenser, Capillary, and Evaporator along with a Mixing chamber instead of Absorber. For experimental purpose generator is powered by electricity while in application it is powered using solar energy or biogas. Condenser is water cooled with hot water is available as by-product (Preheated water for boiler in application). Makeup water is made available from a part of water cooled condenser. Evaporator is open with distilled water coming out as output. Water circulation is done with the aid of a dc pump (6 volt, 1 Amp) powered using a chargeable battery recharged using thermoelectric module (6 volt max; if less, using a voltage multiplier sufficient power is used to charge the battery). Power from battery is regulated to vary flow rate.
