Many students play video games. This is a data set of how many hours they spend playing
video games. My question is that how many hours on average do students play video games.
Most people on average spent playing three to five hours per day. This is good and bad. This
data was collected from 30 people. My data set is
0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,1,1,1,1,2,2,2,3,3,3,3,3,3,4,4,4,4, 4,5,5,6,15. There is an outlier of 15 hour(s) in
my data set. I have asked every third person that walked to the school for the morning meeting
to avoid bias. This project was done to see how many hours students on average play video
games and just to pass math class for the trimaster.

There are Measures of center. They are mean, median, mode. .The mean of this data set
is 30. The mean tells us the average number of the data set.This number is not the best
measure of center because there is an outlier in our data set of 15 hours. This number is much
larger than any other number in the data set, so the number picks up the mean. The median is
3. The median shows us the number in the middle of the data set. This is the best measure of
center because most students play for 3 - 5 hours everyday on average.There is also mode. the
mode is 0. The mode is a number that appears most in the data set.
There is also the standard deviation that is 3.266162288. This number represents on
average how far is the numbers in the data set from the mean. There is the five number
summary that has the minimum, quartile 1, median, quartile 3, maximum number. The minimum
is the smallest number in the data set. The first quartile is where 25 percent of the data falls.
The median is the number in the middle and 50 percent of the data falls below the median. The
third quartile is where 75 percent of the data set falls below. The maximum is the biggest
number in the data set. There is also the range of 15. The range is the difference between the
biggest and the smallest number in the data set. There is the interquartile range that is 6. The
interquartile range is the difference between the third quartile and the first quartile range.
I have done graphs to show and explain my data set. My dot plot shows how many
people play for each hour on average. My box plot shows and explains how the outlier effects
the numbers in the date set. My histogram shows every two hours of gameplay and how many
people play.
As you can see, most people play 0-3 hour on average per day. The data set crealy
shows that most people play 3-5 hours on average per day. My calculation and my graphs show
and that 3 to 5 hours is the average gameplay time for students. So there is an answer to my
question.
