Mahldol University's Strategic Plan 2009-2012

Mahidol University originates from Thailand's first hospital, Siriraj Hospital, founded by H.M. King Chulalongkorn in 1888, and the hospital's medical school is the oldest institution of higher learning in Thailand, granting its first medical degree in 1893. Later becoming the University of Medical Sciences in 19421 the University was renamed with great honor in 1969byH.M. King Bhumibol Adulyadej after his own father, H.R.H. Prince Mahidol of Songklo, who is widely regarded as the 'Father of Modern Medicine and Public Health in Ihoitond'.

Since then. Mahidol University has developed into a well-established rnultl-disciplinorv university consisting ot 16 foculties. 6 colleges, 8 institutes, 4 teaching hospitals, and numerous research centers. The major campuses of the University are in Bangkok and the vicinity, including campus sites at PhayathaL Bangkok Not and Salayo, as well as a high-rise" Jl" building on Vibhavadi Rangsit Road. It has also established three provincial campuses in KanchanaburL Nokhon Sawan and Amnaj Charoen provinces. Although Mahidol University has now become an internationally acclaimed institution, it has retained the spiritual legacy of H.R.H. Prince Mahidol in developing its motto; philosophy, aspiration, and core values.

In order to fulfill the University's mission, Mahidol University strives to encourage harmony in diversity, the usage of modern information technology and the effective administration of resources within the University.

Harmony in Diversity

With its diverse background and the maintenance of several campuses, Mahidol University recognizes the importance of promoting 'harmony in diversity'. In pursuit of this goal, the University strives to coordinate the visions and missions of its faculties, institutes and colleges to correspond with those of the University. Additionally, the University works towards promoting its core values and instilling a sense of corporate loyalty and pride among its academic staff, personnel. students and alumni. In creating this unity, it promotes the establishment of networks and mechanisms to support cooperation between diverse sectors infernally and externally. ICT-Based University & Resource Optimization

In support of its strategies, Mahidol University aims to develop an leT system, a management information system and a data warehouse for effective education, learning, research and management. In addition, the University seeks to promote and ensure optimum utilization of resources through effective financial end budgetary administration and the use of the most appropriate technology to augment capacity and produce the greatest benefits.

Human Capital

The University's vision to become a sustainable world class university requires the development of human capital at aU levels, including students, academic staff, and other personnel of the University. This effort includes personal and professional development, creation of a conducive learning environment and a stimulating research atmosphere, as well as the building of stroteqic partnerships. Moreover, recruiting, supporting and retaining diverse talents witl be essential for the University to achieve excellence in research, learning, healthcare services and internationalization.
