Standing Waves
Superposition and
Interference
Happens when waves pass through the
same point as they travel in the same
media.

Superposition and
Interference
The waves are not altered after
interference.
The waves simply interfere at that
point, but later continue as if they had
never met.
Superposition and
Interference
Wave Interference involves the addition
of vectors(wave displacement at the
time of interference).This is called
superposition.
Constructive interference occurs
whenever two waves combine to make
a wave with a larger amplitude.
Total Constructive
Interference:
Two equal waves moving in opposite
directions combine. The amplitude of
the combined wave is twice that of the
either original wave,
Destructive interference when the
amplitudes of two waves combine
producing a smaller amplitude.
