What caused World War II?

Who was the leading cause for World War II?

Background

World War II came twenty years


after World War I

Started in 1939 and ended 6


years later in 1945

It was the deadliest and most


widespread war in history

It involved more than 30


countries

More 50 million civilian and


military deaths

Countries were destroyed and


changed forever

Hitler wanted more land, especially from


the east

He then took Austria and Czechoslovakia


without a ght

Great Britain and France didn't want


bloodshed so they didn't act

After he took Austria and Czechoslovakia


he wanted more land from the east

Invasion of Poland

On September 1, 1939 Adolf Hitler invaded Poland

Hitler wanted to take it without a ght with Britain and France

Germany didn't want to seem like the aggressor do he made


Poland look like the aggressor

Heinrich Himmler came up with a plan called operation Himmler

The plan was to take a random prisoner and dress him in a Poland
uniform and shot him

The plan worked and they took over Poland without a ght
America

On December 7, 1941 Japan


made an attack on America at
Pearl Harbor

This attack thrusted America


into the Second World War
