Before anything there was homes there. They had told all of the Mexicans
that they had to live in that part of the city. But then one day they went knocking on
there doors telling them they had to get out because they were going to build a
parking lot or something like that but the people didnt agree with that. So the
community gathered up in the park with tents food protesting to stop the workers
from constructing anything and from destroying their homes and the park were
their kids played. Finally the government gave up and let them keep the park. They
started painting murals that represented their history and a way that they could
express their feelings.
These people were able to safe this place that was important to them and
decided to leave it as a park to paint murals that would teach people and there kids
and any kid about what was happening at that time. To show how they fought for
there rights and they stayed strong and did not give up. Zapata was a man that was
great help to the community he was the first person to stop the workers from
building.
