VO
Members of the Russian all girl punk band
Pussy Riot paid a visit to Cecily McMillan, the
Occupy Wallstreet Protester who was recently
convicted of assaulting NYPD Officer Grantley
Brovel as he let her out of a protest in May
2012.
Nadezhda Tolokonnivkova and Maria
Alyokhin, two members of the band feel the
verdict was unjust and went to Rikers island
jail in New York to speak to her themselves.

[Talent]
As you can see, we are right in front of the
prison where Cecily McMillan is now being
held and awaiting sentencing. Just about a week
ago the two band members came to visit, and
showed their sympathy for her.

V/O

In February 2012, Pussy Riot were arrested and
charged with Hooliganism for staging a
performance at Cathedral of Christ the Savior in
Moscow that was critical of Vladmir Putin.

Footage from the performance later was used
for the music video of their song: Punk Prayer
- Mother of God, Chase Putin Away!"

Pussy Riot identified with McMillan for what
they saw as mistreatment by the justice system.
They feel that she is a political prisoner like
they were, and would like to learn more about
her case.
