FINITE VERBS
A finite verb is a form of a verb that has a number, tense
and person).
A finite verb are used as agreement information that the
finite verb gets from its subject (by way of subjectverb
agreement).
TENSE

A tense is a category that
locates a situation in time to
indicate when the situation takes
place.
EXAMPLE
"She has a cat.
In the sentence the
verb has shows a tense (simple
present).



PERSON



Person is a the relationship between a subject and
its verb, showing whether the subject is speaking in first
person, second person or third person.

EXAMPLE
You two were at a formal event.
In the sentence the verb were indicates person (third
person).




Number is a grammatical
category of nouns, pronouns,
adjective and verb agreement
that expresses count distinctions.

Example
David has a birthday cake
In the sentence the verb has
indicates number (singular).


NUMBER
NON- FINITE VERBS
A non-finite verb is the term used to describe a verb that is
not showing number, tense and person. It a verb form
which is not acting like a verb..
A non-finite verb is used to make claims that can be
true or false.
TYPES
The main types of non-finite verbs are gerunds,
infinitives and participles.
A gerund is a noun formed by
taking a verb and adding the
suffix -ing.
Example:
I hate camping.
TYPES
An infinitive it is the basic form
of a verb.

Example:
I want to go there.
A participle is a type of
adjective, come in two
varieties: past and present.
PARTICIPLE
The Present Participle is formed by adding the suffix ing..
Example: His typing speed was less than
ideal.
The past participles of all regular verbs end in ed the past
participles of irregular verbs, however, vary considerably.
Example: We ate
our roasted marshmallows
.
Example: Most sports shows have
a spoken commentary with them.
