when Barbara and

I moved to East
Amwell we were
attracted by the
country roads,
open space and low taxes. It did not
take long to appreciate that it was no
accident that East Amwell is very dif-
ferent from Raritan and other suburban
towns. Preserving the farms and rural
character of East Amwell is a continu-
ing effort and my last three years on
the Township Committee demonstrate
my commitment to nurture the preser-
vation process, manage our bonding
and leverage our resources to keep
taxes low.
As Mayor this year, supporting the day-
to-day operation of the Township has
presented new opportunities to focus
on ong-runge gous to benet our
residents. The history of the Village
of Ringoes goes back to pre-Revolu-
tonury \ur duys und ve need to nd
ways to reinvigorate that founding
spirit. The Planning Board, where I
have served for seven years has under-
taken a study and survey of residents
to identify ideas that might improve
the quality of life in the village. A key
part of the village, Clawson House, is
going out to bid for new windows and
siding, thanks to the tireless efforts of
the Historic Preservation Committee to
get two major grants and State approv-
al. We also have a grant application to
the State for storm water management
improvements in Clawson Park and the
bu eds us ve us premnury grunt
approval for an emergency generator
at the Municipal Building.
East Amwell is a special place where
our work to protect the environment,
our childrens education, the value of
our homes and our quality of life has
not resulted in runaway tax increases.

roads clear of both snow and tree limbs.
The need to repair and repave many
roads after the worst winter in many
years will be a high priority in coming
years. I look forward to working close-
ly with our Township Engineer and our
Dl\ to reestubsh u ve-yeur vorkng
plan for road maintenance and improve-
ment that will take advantage of State
grant programs to minimize the impact
on our township budget.
Public safety is a high priority and we
must continue to work closely with the
State Police who provide protection and
enforcement in East Amwell. Speed
continues to be a concern on our local
roads and after several successful years
of shared police services, pioneered
during my tenure on Township Commit-
tee, we have signed on for a similar ar-
rangement with West Amwell to provide
mted but vsbe truc enorcement ut
no cost to the residents. Effective shared
services are critical to achieving the
highest value for our low tax commit-
ment.
I have enjoyed serving on the Township
Committee and as Mayor and I look
forward to the opportunity to talk with
residents over the coming months, learn
of your concerns and with your support,
to continue serving on the Township
Committee. Please share your thoughts,
ideas and concerns with me at 609-466-

I was appointed to
Township Commit-
tee in December of
20l3 to the un-
expired term of Pat
Cregar. Pat resigned
from the Committee in early Decem-
ber, and unexpectedly passed away a
few weeks later. Pat was one of the
most dedicated and committed public
servants you will ever meet and I am
honored to follow in her footsteps.
My wife Laurie and I discovered East
Amwell seventeen years ago. We were
drawn to the rolling hills, productive
farmland, forested mountain and a
quality of life much superior to the sur-
rounding suburbia. When we learned
of the stable school population, small
local government and low tax rate we
knew this is where we wanted to call
home.
For the past 15 years, I served as
President of an International Trade
Association where I was responsible
for developing policies and long range
punnng, ncudng nuncu und
budgeting programs. My management
and leadership skills provide a solid
framework for serving our community
as a member of Township Committee.
Over the years I have volunteered
with a number of community service
organizations, including serving as
President of the Vision Fund of Amer-
cu. l um currenty n my th yeur us
a member of the East Amwell Board of
Health and serve as the Boards liaison
to the Township Committee. I am par-
ticularly concerned about preserving
our vital water supply and maintaining
our high public health standards for all
of our residents.
I have recently been appointed as
Chair of the Clawson Park Advisory
Committee. The Committee is work-
ing on improvements for the park to
increase recreational activities for
children and adults. In addition, I am
the Township Committee liaison to the
East Amwell School and the Historic
Preservation Committee.
I would like the opportunity to serve a
full three-year term on Township Com-
mittee and pledge to work with State,

to support land preservation. By
combining our resources, we can pre-
serve more farmland and open space
while supporting local, sustainable
agriculture and maintaining the qual-
ity of our natural environment and
precious water supplies. By preserv-
ing farmland, we can avoid the costly
increase in services, wear and tear on
roads and a municipal police force
that would lead to higher and higher
taxes. I am committed to keeping our
township taxes low while maintaining
our high quality of life.
