Week 3a) Catfish Workbook. Students will be given a 2-page workbook relating to the
documentary Catfish. It will also be on my website.

Week 4a) Documentary Pre-
Production Planning.
Students in groups of four will come up with an idea for a
short documentary (minimum 2 minutes long). Pre-
Production Planning includes: a brainstorm, shot
list/storyboard, a brief audience profile and a pre-
production sheet outlining crew roles, shooting locations,
potential interviews and the designated filming times.

Week 8b) Documentary Production
Submission.
Students will submit their short documentary (minimum
2 minutes long) burnt onto a DVD.
50%
Week 9a) Documentary Post-
Production Reflection.
Students will complete a Post-Production reflection on
how their documentary compared to their pre-
production planning, how well their group worked
together, what they learnt and what they can improve on
for next time.

Week 13a) Bowling For Columbine
Research Assignment.
Students will research how Michael Moores Bowling For
Columbine (2002) both adheres to and subverts the
documentary genre.
10%
Close to end of
term.
Mock WACE Exam. Students will sit their mock WACE exams before they sit
their final ATAR exams. This mock exam will account for
20% of the students school Media grade.
