Surgical Instruments Manufacturers Association of

This sector exports 95% of its production, mostly to the
USA and the EU.

The world market for Surgical Instruments is over US $ 30 (B).
Pakistans exports currently stands at US$250 Million (2008-09) (The
Sector has shown growth of about 34% as compared to preceding
years exports of US$191Million)
The total Capital Investment in the Surgical Industry is estimated at
Pak Rs.18 Billion.
There are about 2000-2500 active small and medium Surgical Units
with labor force ranging from (15-450) per unit.
The number of workers in the Surgical Industry is about 150,000.
The industry manufactures about 100 Million instruments annually.
We are manufacturing two types of Surgical Instruments:
a) Disposable instruments, which constitutes 60% of our exports.
b) Reusable instruments, which is 40% of our exports.
