www.ymhs.org LISA MORETTI DOHERTY To Whom it May Concern, Jesse Jurado is an outstanding student and individual. While Jesse joined our small, alter- native high school two months into his senior year, his impact on our school community will resonate for years to come. In the short time I have known Jesse, he has defined a clear role in our school as a student leader and motivator and has made a connection with every teacher and support staff he has encountered. When Jesse enters our building, he is typically wearing bright sports clothing, is energetic and has a perineal smile upon his face. His disposition is consistently positive and screams forth a can do attitude. This is a young man who has tapped into his own internal, motiva- tional source. Jesse has taken every hardship he has encountered in his life and has made it a teachable and reflective moment for himself. Jesse has shared with his peers how he was able to lift himself off the ground when he was certain that he was going down a dead end path by tuning into a series of motivational videos. Not a day goes by when Jesse is sharing a positive thought, or is exuding that beacon of light he emanates so uniquely. Jesse as an innate ability to motivate others through his example, energy, compassion and kindness. It is typical for him to stay up at night writing reflective and motivational speeches to share with his teachers, students and Facebook friends. He is both awed and humbled by his own insights, and these have served him well during times when he has felt his moti- vation slipping, or doubted his course. We see this equally with his unstoppable dexterity on the basketball court and within his academic classes. Jesses internal compass is set for success. His discipline in pursuing achievement sur- passes any student I have yet to meet in my 25 years of teaching. I have no doubt this young man find a career where he will lead with confidence, soar in our armed forces, or excel in his collegiate pursuits. Jesse is the quintessential diamond in the rough. I strongly recommend his candidacy in any program of study. Please contact me with any further questions at 970-456-2769.
