Breck School

Throughout the world today young girls are deprived of access to education,
resulting in a lack of economic growth, health, civil rights for women, and an increase in
population growth.
E=mc^2 has made a decision to launch an adopt a school program for school(s) in
developing countries. The program will allow Breck, along with other local schools, to
adopt one school in a developing country. Breck has connections in Haiti that we plan to
utilize when choosing a school to adopt. We will use this connection to help the developing
schools by; gathering used textbooks, binders, pencils, uniforms, and other supplies for
schools in need. We also plan to raise money through donations from fundraisers, set up a
pen pal program so the students from both schools may communicate and connect with
each other, and raise awareness of the program through media. UNICEF has close
relationships with schools in developing countries, so we plan to communicate through
them to help the plan come into effect. The grant we receive from World Savvy will go
towards raising awareness for the adopt a school program. We plan to make bracelets,
pamphlets, and a informative video that will be shown at multiple schools throughout the
twin cities. Our goal is to encourage other schools to take action and establish their own
programs.
This solution allows possible donors to give resources they already own, instead of
spending money. We originally considered hosting a run, to raise funds for gender
inequality in education, but came to the conclusion that it would be more effective for
people to donate resources such as textbooks and uniforms. If a person donates a resource,
for instance a used textbook, it allows the person to contribute to the cause and save money.
In addition, donating an item rather than money reassures the donor that their item will be
put into useful effect.
In conclusion, the goal of our project is to increase female enrollment in school by
donating resources that would typically be paid for by the students family such as;
uniforms, textbooks, and other school supplies. By eliminating factors that are impeding, in
particular, girls whose families are struggling with the tuition, we hope to increase the level
of education for girls and women worldwide.
