Throughout my journey through high school, I have learned one very important thing; it is

from our failures that we become successful. Without failure, there is no way to highlight areas
of improvement. We would not be able to reflect and change our ways. It is my failures that
sculpted me into who I am today. Reflections and improvement on my failures have helped me
to join a sports team in high school, as well as improve most of my grades in my classes.
Since the beginning of high school, I strongly wanted to partae in athletics. In the
spring, the boy!s tennis team was holding tryouts. I saw this as my opportunity to join a school
sports team. I had been playing tennis for "uite a while now, and decided to try out. To my
shoc and disbelief, I had not made the team. #lthough I was very unpleased with the outcome,
I new what my flaws were and where to improve. I spent the ne$t summer practicing and
improving my sills and techni"ues. The ne$t year, the boys! tennis team was holding tryouts
again. %repared and ready to try again, I tried out for the team while eeping in my mind what
my flaws were last year. &sing my past nowledge of my failure from last year, as well as my
new sills and techni"ues, I had earned my way into a spot on the boys! tennis team.
'ot only in athletics, but in academics, I learn and review past mistaes to better
improve my nowledge and class performance. (y first year in high school was very hard, as I
had trouble maing the transition from middle school into high school. The classes were harder
and the teachers were stricter. I was doing poorer and getting grades below my e$pectations.
)owever, I saw that many of my friends in the same classes were not doing as bad. I ased my
friends how they were doing so well. They told me that they had tutors outside of school. That
sounded lie a good idea for me to; however, I had no time for a tutor. # good friend of mine told
me there was an online tutoring website called *han #cademy which was made especially for
the purpose of teaching lessons students do not understand. This website has been a huge help
to me. It has helped me especially in my mathematics courses, such as algebra +, pre, calculus,
and calculus. With the use of this website, I have been doing remarably well at understanding
the concepts we learn in class. (y recognition of my failure to achieve satisfactory grades led to
me searching for and finding a solution
In my life, I have had many failures, but it is from these failures that do-ens more
successes have followed. In athletics, my reflections have made me a better player. In
academics, my reflections have made me a better student. I believe it is my power of reflection
that has helped me to ultimately become a better person.
