Whats been happening?

Last Friday the whole school had a lockdown drill and the K2 children
performed very well. Each class has a specific place for the children
to sit quietly during a lockdown. We wait there until notified via the PA
system that the lockdown is completed and that classes can resume
as normal.

Last week we returned to our ongoing unit of inquiry on stories. We
explored story elements and read many books. We read a story called
Dear Zoo and the children then created their own Dear Zoo book.
This week we are starting our summative assessment for this unit of
inquiry. In small groups the students will have an opportunity to
create a new story or retell a familiar story in their own way
puppetry, role play or storytelling - and present it to an audience.

This Thursday we look forward to seeing you all at our student-led
conferences. The children are looking forward to being your guide to
their school.

Swimming lessons: K2G and K2Y had their first swim last Thursday
and it was wonderful. Our parent volunteers were fantastic at helping
the children enjoy the water. Swimming lessons are part of the P.E.
programme and all K2 children should participate. Mark your
calendar for every Monday (K2R) or Thursday (K2G & K2Y) to send a
swim bag to school with your child. Thank you.
