Describe structure of funding in sport in the UK.

Explain how factors

affecting participation affect different minority groups within UK
sport.

The funding of sport in the UK is a long structure. It starts with the government.
The government invest millions into sport each year. The department of sport in
the government is called The Department of Culture, Media and Sport. The
money invested into sport then goes to Sport England. Sport England is the
government agency responsible creating a world-class community sport
environment. Sport England then divide the money and give each fraction of it to
the national governing bodies of sports such as The Rugby Football Union (RFU),
The Football Association (FA) and The Lawn Tennis Association (LTA). These
fractions given to the NGBs of the sports are split from the high levels of the
sports to the grass roots of the sport. This funds the athletes the facilities and
equipment, the officiating and the coaching.
