 Utilizing Blogs in Nursing education

Objectives ~
The student will be able to
Describe how to set up and use a Blog site.
Discuss potential uses of Blogs in Education.
Consider the possibilities of utilizing other
technology in the education arena.
 Setting up a Blog Site

Free sites or paid sites can be used

 Sample free sites include:
 Https://blogger.com
 Http://wordpress.com

Go to Blogger.com
Complete the sign in information
Once you have completed the sign in your site will look something
like this.
 You can easily set up your preferences

Some sites allow you to set up your blog site so that

only you and selected others can view it using a
password.
You will easily be able to set up a variety of
preferences for your site.

 Automatic e-mail forwarding
Some sites allow your blog is automatically sent to as
many 10 individuals if you post their e-mail addresses.
Your site can be open for anyone to read or you can restrict to only
invited guests

You can also authorize access to others to share in authoring in your Blog.
You can add a variety of Gadgets!
You can also do a GOOGLE search for other information about Blogs

 Downloading power point and video into a Blog

Some Blog sites allow you to download directly into the Blog
while others do not.
Blogger does not
 With this service I had to use an outside source to save the ppt and
video. (Had I not done this I would have had to e-mail ppt or send the
video via United Postal service. )
 An easy service to use is “Scribd”
