I. Objectives:

At the end of the period, the students should be able to:

A. Identify the different materials to be used in network cabling.
B. Choose what type of cable to use in connecting computer to computer and
computer to device.
C. Demonstrate how to make a straight through and crossover cable.

II. Subject Matter:

Topic: Network Cabling

Materials: Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP) Cable, RJ-45, Cutter, Long Nose Pliers, Crimper,
Network Cable Tester, Chalk Board, Chalk

III. Procedures:

A. Daily Routine Activity: Opening prayer, Checking of Attendance

B. Lesson Proper:
a. Activity: Discussion of the lesson.
1. T568A and T568B Color Arrangement
2. Straight Through Cable and Crossover Cable
3. Presentation of materials to be used.
4. Demonstrate how to make a cable.
5. Testing the cable.
b. Analysis:
1. How are crossover cable made?
2. When will crossover and straight-through cable be used?
c. Abstraction:

C. Application:
The students will be paired and given their materials to be used to make a straight
through or crossover cable.

IV. Evaluation:

On a sheet of paper, write the color arrangement of T568A and T568B.
What kind of cable will you use if you are going to connect 2 computers?
What kind of cable will you use if you are going to connect a computer to a router?

V. Assignment:

1. What is network topology?
2. Give at least 5 examples of a network topology.
