D-VERB
DYNAMIC REVERB

not to be confused with Avid D-Verb

or EBS Dyna-Verb

(please dont sue me)

D-Verb is a Dynamic Reverb plug-in that uses a switch-on-able envelope follower to control the
reverbs output level. The reverb itself uses the Dattorros Plate Reverb algorithm. The idea for the
dynamic part was partially inspired by the TC 2290 Dynamic Digital Delay, which uses a similar effect but
with delay rather than reverb.
The dynamic part of D-Verb essentially acts as a compressor on the wet signal of the reverb with
the side chain being the dry signal. Adjusting the threshold, attack, and release controls gives the ability
to have the reverb attenuate or duck when the dry signal is present or louder and have the decay
come out to the forefront. The Depth control determines how much the reverb is attenuated (similar to
the ratio control on a compressor). This sound works particularly well on vocal phrases with large gaps.
I also had some fun with more special effects using D-Verb on drums to give a very big, 80s drum sound.
