All fourth grade students at Golden Meadows participat-
ed in Writer's Cafe on March 24th. Students worked in
groups to choose a genre and write to that task using a
variety of products including an iPad mini and computer
software. The excitement of the students could be heard
and seen in the hallway, classrooms, and within the
groups. To add to the ambiance of the day, students or-
dered hot chocolate, cider, and pastries. Great way to
motivate, Ms. Hernandez, Ms. Cook, Ms. Cotie, Ms. Rojas,
and Ms. Dunham!

The students in Ms. Tresenriter's first grade class
have been studying geometric shapes. The class
read The Greedy Triangle and then did a build-
ing walk to search for polygons in their world.
The students were excited by the challenge of
finding heptagons, octagons, and decagons. Eve-
ry child then wrote a short passage about what
type of figure they would be if they were poly-
gons. Thank you, Ms. Tresenriter, for shaping
your students understanding of polygons.
On March 26, Williams Elementary held its frst Fam-
ily Fun Science Night. Parents and students explored
the world of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology
through hands on actvites led by educators from
the Perot Museum of Nature and Science. The actvi-
tes included topics such as earth science, life sci-
ence, chemistry and physics.
Way to go, Williams! This event was a great oppor-
tunity to engage parents and students in science.
