Area 1 CSTs Brag about Hillside Academy
Austin Academy lost Becky Brown, a beloved teach-
er and friend, last October. Her husband's employ-
er, Hewlett Packard, recently donated $40,000
worth of monitors and printers to the school in her
honor. His fellow employees donated 25% of the
total and HP contributed the rest of the funds. The
faculty of Austin Academy is very thankful for this
generous gift.

Hillside Academy has taken Thinking Maps to a
new level. With school-wide implementation,
students are using Thinking Maps in classrooms,
hallway displays, and, as depicted in the photo,
campus presentations for Black History Month.
Students have embraced the concepts and will
engage adults with conversations about Think-
ing Maps. Hillside, AWESOME!
This book would
be a great
addition to a
school's profes-
sional library as
the majority of
the FACTs can
be used across
content areas.

GM focused a porton of their staf development to en-
couraging team collaboraton by creatng the Hawk
Games. Teachers excitedly partcipated, creatng cheers
for their teams to chant during the games. These new
game ideas will also beneft the students in their class-
rooms since they were created for that purpose as well!
