Orthographic Sketching
Orthographic projection is
a means of representing
a three-dimensional object
in two dimensions. I have
not done anything like this
since high school. I had
some difficulty in seeing the
different views and how you
were suppose to draw it. As
a class went over it and I
had a better understanding
how to approach the
orthographic drawing.

The drawing to the left is
another example of an
orthographic sketching,
this view is an exploded
view. There are different
ways to draw
orthographically.
The drawings to the left
and right are my first
attempts at

Perspective Sketching
Perspective in drawing, is an
approximate representation,
on paper, of an image as it is
seen by the eye. I found
perspective drawing to be a
bit easier than orthographic.
I found 1 point perspective to
be easier than 2 point
perspective to try to draw.
Perspective drawing can be
used in everyday life.
To the left is
how to draw a
one point
perspective.
To the right is
an example of a
two point
perspective.
To the left is my
first try at drawing
a one perspective
drawing.

Brainstorming
Brainstorming can be a group
activity by which efforts are
made to find a conclusion for a
specific problem by gathering a
list of ideas spontaneously
contributed by its members. I
enjoyed this activity a lot
because as soon as you came up
with an idea you said it.
Brainstorming is always fun
because no one is ever wrong it
is just spontaneous ideas that
come to mind.
Comb?
Weapon?
Skewer?

As a group we were shown different
objects and we had to come up with
as many ideas as we possibly could
for what we thought the object was.
It was okay if we were totally wrong
we just had to come up with an idea
and say it. They were all written
down. Our group came up with the
most ideas, and some very strange.

Cutter!

Equipment and Tools
Professor Roses TST-161
HOT TOOL SAFETY RULES

Always assume that hot tools are on. Never touch their heating elements or any other part of the tool that may be hot under any circumstances.
Use these tools only on appropriate approved materials.
Use these tools in areas assigned by Professor Roses. Keep glue and solder away from computers and laptops.
Wear safety glasses or goggles at all times when working with these tools.
Allow enough times for heated materials to dry and cool before handling them.
Report any accident or injury to Professor Roses immediately no matter how minor. Universal precautions will be taken. Please remember which tool you
were using if an accident occurs.
Use only proper and reviewed methods of using these tools at all times.
Visually inspect all parts of the tool before using for cleanliness and security.
Keep you eyes on what you are working on at all times. Focus and respect the equipment!
Only one person using the tool should be in the area at that time. Everyone else should be at least three steps away from the person and the tool.
Keep the space you are working in clean of all debris and other materials.
Use all appropriate tool holders and storage devices and return tools to the area specified by the teacher when finished using them.
Hot tools must never be used in any way to intimidate or threaten another person or their work, jokingly or otherwise.
In this class I learned how to use
the Hot Wire Foam Cutter. I was
very nervous to use this because
I have never used it before. Now,
since I was taught properly how
to use it I am not nervous
anymore. In this class we also
used Hot Glue Guns. We also
used non hot tools line an Xacto
Knife. Using the Xacto knife you
must be paying close attention to
what you are doing because of
how sharp it is. Tool safety is very
important!

Design Element Mobile
The Design Element Mobiles
were designed as a quiz on
our creative ability and to quiz
of our knowledge of the
elements. I had the Element
of Form. I used waves and
water to represent form. I
used a water bottle as
catching some of the ocean
water and it forming it toward
the bottle.
FORM
For this mobile our design brief was to use foam to
construct a mobile to represent one of the six
elements. My Design Element Mobile represented
Form. In this project I used a hot wire cutter to cut
the foam for my waves and rock.

This is my
detailed plan
for my mobile.
As a class we had to
go around and look at
everyone else's
mobile and to write
down what we
though it was. 18out
of 22 classmates
thought that my
mobile was Form.
That is 82% correct.

In this project we were
challenged to use elements of
design in order for this project
to succeed. We needed to use
knowledge of ergonomics and
strength of the materials we
had. Knowing how your own
foot is shaped and how you
walk can really effect your
own comfort level. I know that
I walk on the insides of my
feet so I knew the inside
needed more strength.
Approximately 45 cells were used on
each foot.
Cells were strategically placed in order
to succeed.
I decided to use a lot of little cells in
order to hold my body weight evenly.
The testing for this
project was to walk 10
feet in the sand (which
none of my cells were
crushed) and to leave an
imprint in the sand
(which my sandals did).
This is the
detailed
drawing of
my sandals.

Coloring Activity
A color wheel is an abstract
illustrative organization of color
hues around a circle that shows
relationships between primary
colors, secondary colors,
complementary colors, etc. As a
group we had to accomplish to
make a color wheel using food
coloring and icing on a Nila
Wafers. It was challenging but I
think my group did a great job to
come as close to the colors as
possible.
Food Coloring and Icing

Besides making the Color Wheel we
were quizzed as teams on if we
knew our color wheel. During this
quiz we learned about the color
wheel in an unconventional way.
We used on knowledge of the
different parts of the color wheel
to help us answer questions.

Silk screening T-shirts

I have never silkscreened
before and it is so interesting
how it works. As a class we
each made our own individual
design to put on a t-shirt. I
wanted to make my t-shirt
something that I could wear to
the beach. I chose the color
green because I had a white
shirt to put it on and it worked
very well. My design was dark
enough for the machine to pick
up so my design came out
really well.
Screen printing is a printing technique that uses a woven
mesh to support an ink-blocking stencil. The attached stencil
forms open areas of mesh that transfer ink or other printable
materials which can be pressed through the mesh as a sharp-
edged image onto a substrate. A roller or squeegee is moved
across the screen stencil, forcing or pumping ink past the
threads of the woven mesh in the open areas.

Hands on Final
Cast Away
Our hands on final exam was
nothing like any other exam I
have taken. We were stranded
just like Tom Hanks was in Cast
Away. I enjoyed this exam a lot
because it tested our skills as
well as it was a lot of fun. My
group was easy to work with
because we all wanted to do
well. Each of us contributed
something to the island making
us all assets to this exam.
We were stranded on an island of 10x10 with 6
people for this exam. We were left with a table,
garbage bags, a newspaper, a video tape, an ice
skate, FedEx envelope, balloons, a wood pole, a
piece of poster paper, and what ever we had with
us. As a group we had to come up with a shelter to
cover all of us from head to toe, something to catch
water and a help signal. We succeeded in doing it
all and our shelter survived the storm.

our S.O.S sign.
Windy and the
Hurricanes did a
great job making
our shelter!

Grounds for sculpture is an

semester. It had many
extraordinary works of arts
that I have never seem
before. The three pictures
shown I wrote about in a
paper because they intrigued
me for different reasons. I
will never forget this
experience because I have
never been to anything like
it.
