Not in mood of your regular idli? We are here with a healthy alternative, learn how to make vermicelli (sewai)
idli with green chutney.
Ingredients
1 cup Vermicelli
1.5 cup Dry roasted oats
2 cups Thick curd
1 pinch Cooking soda
2 tsp Oil
1 tsp Mustard seeds
1 tsp Blackgram dal
1 tsp Bengalgram dal
To taste Salt
1 Small onion
1 tsp Ginger garlic paste
1 Green chilli
Few Curry leaves
2 tbspn Grated carrot
2 tbspn Finely chopped cabbage
2 tbspn Boiled peas
Half For green chutney: Fresh grated coconut
1 bunch Coriander
3 Green chillies
1 tbspn Roasted peanuts
1 tbspn Gram dal
1/2 tspn Sugar
To taste Salt and lemon juice
1 tspn Tempering the chutney: Oil
Few Curry leaves
Half tspn Mustard seeds
Directions
1. 1Method to make sewai idli: Soak the roasted vermicelli for 10 minutes in the curd.
2. 2Add the oats to it and mix well
3. 3Let it stay for another 5 minutes.
4. 4Heat oil and add mustard seeds.
5. 5When it splutters, add black gram dal, Bengal gram dal, curry leaves, green chillies and ginger paste.
6. 6Add chopped onions and fry for a minute.
7. 7Now add grated carrots and saut for a minute.
8. 8Add this to the oats vermicelli mixture and add salt as per taste.
9. 9Add water as required to make it a bit loose, but not watery.

12. 12Grease idli plates with little oil and put this batter in each hole. Steam for 10 minutes or till done.
13. 13Method to make green chutney: Grind all ingredients of chutney adding little water as per desired
consistency.
14. 14Temper with mustard seeds and curry leaves in one tablespoon oil.
15. 15Serve hot idlis with coriander chutney
