Grade 2 Homework (Week 32):

Distributed: Friday, May 30th Due: Friday, June 6th


1. Mad Minutes Please continue to practice your Mad Minutes. Ask your mom or dad to copy the
2-sided division sheets which your teacher gave you. Practice a different Mad Minute sheet about 2-
4 times per week. Lets master our Division facts for speed and accuracy.
2. Spelling: Go to the Spelling City Website at: http://www.spellingcity.com/grade2bifs/
Then click on your Spelling List. Enjoy all of the fun games and activities!
3. Literacy: Read your leveled reading book aloud to your parents for 15-20 minutes per night or until
you complete your book. Remember to have your parents sign the form. Please make sure to read 5-
7 nights per week.
4. PYP/Literacy: We would like you to keep an environmental journal with 3-5 journal entries. You can start
before, during or after the weekend. Each journal entry should be about - 1 page long. For this journal,
please observe what you see in the environment and try to go to a park, a beach, a mountain, a garden, or
somewhere with trees, flowers, water, animals, etc. Try to include descriptive adjectives, strong action verbs,
similes, adverbs, and details (elaboration). Explain what is happening or what you notice. Use your 5 senses to
describe the sounds you hear, plants you smell, and so on Can you notice any negative or positive impacts on
the environment by humans? You can record these journal entries in your HW Notebook, PYP Notebook,
personal journal or by start a new journal.
5. Mr Heeres Class: Practice and memorize your lines and songs for the class assembly.

Have your parents video tape you doing this (while you are explaining the fractions),
put in on a USB and bring it into class. Or, take pictures of this and print them or email them to your teacher. Be
prepared to present and explain these pictures to your classmates.
Math: Make a video clip teaching your classmates how to divide items into equal groups. Such as having 24 marbles and
putting them into 4 circles and showing that 6 are in each circle at the end. Please be sure to use props.
PYP/Literacy: Complete more than 5 journal entries for the journal assignment listed above. Write 1-2 page journal
entries. Record sketches and pictures with captions in your environmental journal.
Weebly websites: Add new entries to your personal or fun page using the following ideas: video clips, audio
clips, photos, slideshows, journal entries, poems, letters, stories, etc.
Literacy: Use Story Bird to write another story and share with your classmates on the Smartboard.
