Professionals Needed for Speed Networking Event

Opportunities for a Better Tomorrow (OBT) is seeking professionals (including recent

college graduates) to assist Latino youth from Bushwick, Brooklyn sharpen their career
networking and interviewing skills.

OBT will host a speed networking event on Friday, June 6
th
, 2014 from 5pm to
6:30pm at the Saint Joseph Patron Church Youth Center. Similar to the concept of
speed dating, speed networking will allow youth to participate in a series of short
informational interviews with professionals in various fields. This event is meant as
practice for youth who will soon be entering the workforce and/or seeking internships.

Each professional will be paired with a trainee for a 7 minute interview. Following each
interview, the professional will fill out a feedback card that will highlight the strengths
and weaknesses of interviewees. Approximately 6 interviews will take place within the
course of an hour, and then youth will have a chance to network informally with all
volunteers.

OBT has prepared these students in the areas of resume writing, proper business attire,
delivering an elevator speech, and networking. Volunteers will receive preparation
materials from OBT before the event. Professionals from all fields and levels of
experience are welcome.
