intro: How to draw the female eye
Learn to become a professional pencil artist.
This tutorial will show you how to draw the female eye.
You can find more drawing tips at my website.
You can view a Mustang drawing video that I made at step 10! check it out :)
Video
step 1:Basic Shape
As reference I will use Adriana Lima's eye, because it's a very nice one! Remember to use a detailed and good quality photo as reference.
We start first with drawing the basic shape of the eye. It's very important to get the right shape. You can use a normal pencil for this.
http://www.instructables.com/id/Professional-drawing-tutorial!!!/
step 2:Outlines
Let's put in some of the basic lines. It's important to mark the light dot(s) in the pupil/iris. You can also outline some if the black parts that stands out in the reference. I
usually use a mechanical pencil for this job.
step 3:Center of the eye
Remember to fill in enough lines so you can get the shading right. Then you can start filling the center of the eye with graphite. I used 4b or 5b for the darkest, and HB
and 2H for the light parts.
http://www.instructables.com/id/Professional-drawing-tutorial!!!/
step 4:Upper eye
Now we can draw the upper eyelid and outline the lower one (4B or 5b). Draw the corners a bit darker (HB), and we can also add some dark upper eyelashes. Smudge
with a blending tool or a Q-tip.
step 5:Blending
The eye is beginning to look a bit realistic now, and we can use a
q-tip or a blending tool to achieve more light tones around the eye.
DO NOT smudge the light dot in the pupil!!!
step 6:More shadows & details
Draw rest of the eyelashes and blend more shadow in. Now we can decide how realistic we want the drawing to be. Add as many details as you want, do all of them if
you have the patience. I have added some of them.
http://www.instructables.com/id/Professional-drawing-tutorial!!!/
step 7:Eyebrow
Sketch up the eyebrow, and start filling it in.
step 8:Almost finish
Draw the rest of the eyebrow, and add shadow around the eye. Make sure to get the tone/shadow almost right, and then blend it. You can also add some tiny skin details;
this will make it look realistic.
http://www.instructables.com/id/Professional-drawing-tutorial!!!/
step 9:Finish
And the finished result should look something like this, at least after some practice. Watch my drawing- videos to see different techniques applied in action.

Photo-realism: the (awesome) abiltiy to use a pencil and paper to draw a subject with such detail that it looks almost photographic. Hats off to you, and don't

Really good work. I have always loved pencil. Although I use other mediums, my trusty #2 is the one I like the best.

i agree with pingeee. an nose drawing instructable wouldbe fantastic, considering the clarity and extreme usefulness of this one. i used the
same pic you did and it turned out amazing.

Now write one with the same title, except on how to get attention from that girl in class who doesn't know you exsist!

I dated an artist, that was wonderful to have her teach me how to draw then we would draw thing on notes we passed each other between classes. Girls
are always impressed when you have a skill art is just one. try staring at her in class with a pen in hand and when she asks what you are staring at just
say you are studying her eye so you can draw it because she has such beautiful eyes... it'll work trust me.

Always a pleasure being an inspiration!! With some professional pencils I guess you could easily achieve some shine effects on the knife blades, and
some shadows on the wooden spoon. Great work!
The Artist says: Dec 21, 2007. 3:40 AM REPLY
hehe :)
cry_wolf says: Dec 21, 2007. 3:03 PM REPLY
Love the Instructable, i like the muscle car, you seemed to use a ton of ebony pencil in that, and you got the shine perfect. Do you think finger blending is a
good technique for something like that? Or should i use the rolled paper blending sticks?
The Artist says: Dec 21, 2007. 3:13 PM REPLY
Hi cry_wolf
Glad you like the video :D
I would not recommend using you finger. You won't achieve the same effect, it's hard to get the different contrasts with you finger and it's hard to remove
it with an eraser and details are extra hard. So yes, go get yourself some paper blending sticks :)
