EXT. DUSK - CRAIGS PARENTS HOUSE
CRAIG is sitting on the porch of the rural house, still in
his hospital gown, unlit CIGARETTE hanging from his lip. His
car is haphazardly parked in the driveway with the door left
open. We dont know how long hes been here.
TARA can be seen speeding down the road and into the
driveway. She slams the door shut behind her, but
tentatively wavers by the car. She doesnt seem willing to
approach.
CRAIG
Howd you find me?
TARA
You talked about this place last
time we were out. It has two broken
mailboxes under a steel one, just
like you said.
Craig says nothing.
TARA
Why are you here? Why did you run?
CRAIG
Because more bad news is redundant.
I dont need it.
Tara steps forward and pulls out her LIGHTER. She walks up
and hands it to Craig. He just holds on to it for a bit.
CRAIG
Howd you know I ran?
TARA
You listed me as your contact. When
you went "to make a phone call" and
never came back, they called me. I
thought you might be here.
Craig nods and finally lights up. Tara sits down on the
porch beside him.
CRAIG
My parents hated this place. Thats
why they just gave it to my brother
and ran away. Now that theyre gone
-- gone-gone, Richard doesnt want
to look at it. Neither did I.

TARA
Why did your parents hate it?
CRAIG
Because it was what their parents
had wanted for them: a patch of
land away from civilization. They
didnt travel when they were my
age. Our only vacation when I was
growing up was Disneyland. It took
a long time for them to just say,
"Fuck it," and leave to find
something new.
Tara gently takes the cigarette out of Craigs hand while
hes zoning out and puffs it.
CRAIG
I never left either. I never
traveled, or explored, or conquered
anything.
TARA
Why would you want to? Its all
overrated. Im sure Brazil is
gorgeous, but Im not cheapening my
experiences at all by having not
gone.
CRAIG
Yeah, well, Im sure my experiences
are pretty cheap since I have none.
Craig takes the cigarette back.
TARA
Well, no, then I think any of your
few experiences are valuable.
CRAIG
Like what?
TARA
(Snide)
Im sure not many people try to
hang out with hookers.
CRAIG
Right, that. Well then, yeah,
youve been an amazing experience.
Tara looks down, smiling and shaking her head. This is
nothing new.

Craig nudges his shoulder into hers.
CRAIG
No, really. Youre great. Im glad
I saw you when I did.
Tara kisses the top of Craigs head.
TARA
Thanks. Me, too.
The two look out over the fields.
TARA
What now?
CRAIG
Im winded. Id like to lay down,
if youd like to join me.
