SUAT Review Iron Fox Axes

SUAT Was given the honor of testing the newest axe from Iron Fox Axes. Iron Fox
Axes goal is to design a modern fire axe that could be used against any material. Their
reutation roves that their axes are tough! extremely versatile and easy to use in the
hands of today"s Firefighters. The Flat #eaded Axe is $.%& inches and at %.& ounds! both
the flat head and ic' head weigh and balance identically! desite their hysical
difference. This gives you the feel in your hands that you exect from a roerly
weighted tool. (ach axe is made in the USA from Temered #igh )rade Tool Steel.
We had high exectations for this new Flat #eaded Axe! due to the multitude of
*ouTube videos dislaying its versatility and durability! and it lived u to all of them.
From the second this axe was ta'en out of the box we already 'new it would be an
unstoable force not to be messed with. We could tell from its design that the guys at
Iron Fox Axes ut a lot of time into ma'ing this tool something every firefighter could
use and would want to have on the fire ground. The axe is forged from an indestructible
material that is also lightweight. The design of the axe allows it to maintain a balance
about it so you are not worried about it being to heavy. This axe was built for the
modern firefighter and will ma'e a large imact in the Firefighting +ommunity.
After sea'ing with the owner! ,arin Fox! we were given the tas' of trying to brea' the
Flat #eaded Axe. We ut this axe through every situation we could thin' of that it would
encounter! and even some scenarios it robably wouldnt encounter and yet it would not
brea'. I am confidant enough to say this is the Ultimate -.reach/ Tool.

They made sure to Increase the 0ass of the stri'ing area of the axe and ma'ing sure that
the Weight and balance oint was 1ust li'e the Traditional fire axe and in doing so the
made the Stri'ing (nd a little wider with a small radius that made this tool much easier
for Stri'ing Imact. We did find out when stri'ing with the Flat (nd that you did not feel
it as much in the handle of the axe as we did in our Traditional Flat #eaded Axe.
Iron Fox Axes come in multile tyes of handles2 a Traditional Tennessee #ic'ory to a
#igh34erformance Fiberglass in either blac' or brown. We used the #igh 4erformance
Fiberglass in .rown and we loved it.

When we comared the two axes you can see the 0a1or ,eference in the blade of the
axe. Iron Fox made sure that they added a raised 4itched Forward +utting edge to aid in
different situations. We found it to be very helful when ma'ing an oening5 this heled
in gaining well3needed 4urchase 4oints. We made it our goal to beat the cra out of this
end of the axe to see what it could handle. We ut it to wor' on wood! cinder bloc'!
bric'! metal roof dec'ing! leather! lath! dry wall and much more. The +utting (dge of
this axe was ut through 1ust as much rigorous wor' as well and the aftermath was 1aw
droing. We did notice that when you were driving the cutting edge into something it
would wor' its way down the ob1ect creating a much wider. This was great because you
didnt have to do as much wor' to get the same result as you would with a Traditional
Axe.
6ow dont get us wrong! where there are 4ros there are +ons! however we could only
find one con with the Iron Fox Axe. This axe cannot be married with a #alligan. When
we so'e with ,arin about this he informed us that they were aware of the issue and were
already wor'ing on imroving this Axe so that it can be married with a #alligan.
We would recommend this axe to any Firefighter and any Fire ,eartment thats loo'ing
