You are on page 1of 1

You have just bought a brand new car you have spent the extra money and time

choosing all the extras. You get into the car, you want to
see what this baby can do.

Its just as slow as the last one!!!, you shout.

You have done lots of professional development. You are an Excel Guru, you are a more inspiring publics
speaker than Jim Telfer, and you have done all the leadership training in the world, yet you still arent there
yet.
Does this sound familiar?
Guess what, you are still you. The reason why your car, no matter how much you pimp it up, goes at the
some speed; there is some childish little Sh*t who is leaning back on the handbrake and making sure no
matter how much gas you give it, your going
nowhere.
If you want to perform and achieve what you feel you
are capable of, then you need to banish you childish
little sh*t. Not easy, and it takes a huge amount of
courage.
So who is the handbrake demon? Well only you know!
The most difcult thing to be is honest with yourself.
You may even be ashamed about what this thing is that
always gets in the way.
Once you gure out what your demon is, then its time
to face the pain. You will need to confront it and
understand it, and then deal with it. Either gently or with extreme prejudice.
After all its a game, once you can identify your inner
handbrake, you can then manage it. You will then realise
that all the professional development in the world has
minimal effect on you wellbeing and efcacy at work
unless you release your potential.
Dont waste such a good car, try to get the most out of it. Your work colleagues will all want a piece of
your car.
Why Is Dobby So Annoying?
Performance is Potential
minus Interference.
