Stereotypes can be very useful and in the case of family guy, very profitable. The slippery slope of negative stereotyping occurs in the workplace. The real problem lies in the generalizations about the actions of said group.

I think that though stereotypes are very damaging to our society, they can be very useful and in the case of family guy, very profitable. A lot of family guy involves wrapping up the stereotypes in jokes that makes them funny and relatable. I think the slippery slope of negative stereotyping occurs in the workplace, where a certain group may be favored more over another group based on age, ablism, and skin color and not based on past performances. A lot of times I think that companies arent as enthusiastic to hire people with previous backgrounds of various races/color because others in the group have given the group an overall bad name, which shouldnt have a reflection on one individual. This is where the real problem lies, not in the groups, but in the generalizations about the actions of said group which influence other people to act negatively towards and around that person.
