Soccer time line

1848
- The first rules for soccer and how to play the game when playing in non-school clubs
were made and established at Cambridge University.
1863
- Rules of soccer were altered by 7 members of the football association some of the
members didnt agree with two of the rules that would not be taken out of the rules so
their teams were withdrawn from the association.
1871-72
- On July 20
th
1871 C. W. Alcock said that the association should have a challenge cup
that would be held within the association.
- In 1872 the first of many FA cup began
1885
- Professionals (being paid to play for the team) were allowed to play in the FA but only
under certain rules. They had to be born in the area or lived in the area for a minimum
of 2 years and had to be in a radius of 6-miles of the team they were playing for.
1895
- First recorded womens soccer match played in England between a northern and
southern team. This was to raise money for charity and the FA banned women from
playing on FA grounds.
1930
- First mens FIFA world cup played in Uruguay
1991
- First womens FIFA world cup played China
