I have no name, yet my kind is known worldwide, I cannot be seen by the naked eye, but only one tiny

particle of my kind can start a disastrous chain reaction in the human species. I am a killer, a replicator,
and a microscopic monster.
In 2003, two different viruses mutated in the body of a pig living in Guang Dong, hina. In the body of
that pig, my kind was born. !e the "#$ virus, terrori%ed the bodies of over &000 people worldwide. 'f
that amount, we were able to kill (() before governments *uarantined us and a vaccine was developed
to control and eradicate my kind. +owever a handful of us were fro%en, kept dormant and stored as
research samples for virologists all over the world. ,hrough these virologists, I have heard many
intriguing arguments becoming e-changed as I rested in a test tube stored in an isolation chamber. 'ne
particular field of argument that I have found to be *uite the hot topic for these scientists is the debate
over whether my kind, the virus, *ualifies as an living organism.
Dr."mith, one of my daily guests into my isolation chamber thinks that I am indeed an living
organisms. During one of his many heated argument with his fellow colleagues, he said that viruses self
replicate and mutate through this process. ,he process of how we achieve this is no different from
evolution through reproduction. "ince all life did come from millions of years of evolution, with our
relatively faster speed of mutation or as the scientists like to call it .evolution/ it is only a matter of
time where we will achieve the ability to metaboli%e, utili%e energy, and develop our own cells instead
of find a host cell.
