Fish have many life changing adaptations to help them survive in

their ever changing environment, from ns and arms to gills and ears. Fish
have helped humans become what they are today.

Fish have lived ever since the start of time. The rst species of Fish
were called anaspis. They had hard outer scales and were jawless. The
next was the tetrapods, which were a super class that was rst to start
the evolving process. They lived approximately 250 million years ago
during what is now called the Devonian age. Figure 1 shows how the
di"erent sh changed in this era.

Around 250 billion years ago, sh started to evolve and adapt to
their ever changing environment. Some of the earliest adaptations were
forward-facing eyes that helped the sh see predators above and below
the water. Another early adaptation was a small blow hole on the top of
their head. They could breath above ground and in the water. Fish have
been tested to breath over 50% through the hole. The last adaptation is
their ns. They began to transition under their body. Eventually, some sh
became strong enough to pull themselves out of the water with their new
ns.

Many parts of a sh have evolved into human characteristics. The
rst example is the gills which transformed into bones like that of a
human ear. Another is the eyes.150 billion years ago, as explained above,
sh developed forward-facing eyes very similar to our own. The last
characteristic is ns, which of course evolved into our legs and arms.

In summary, sh are one of closest ancestors to humans and have
helped us become what we are today. Fish have made a big di"erence in
Tetrapods
the human race.
