By S&T (Maintenance)-Electrical Maintenance of UPS
What is UPS?
An uninterruptible power supply (UPS) is a device that has an alternate source of energy that can provide power when the primary power source is temporarily disabled. The switchover time must be small enough to not cause a disruption in the operation of the loads.
Why use a UPS?
Protects against multiple types of power disturbances. It helps protect against data loss. It helps avoiding heavy restart charges (monetary loss) Maintenance of UPS
Types of UPS in PARCOs Network:
Gutor make Online UPS of different capacities are installed at different stations across the PARCOs Network.

Maintenance of UPS
How does UPS works:
Switching Time : 2-4msec CONVERTER AC TO DC AC SUPPLY INVERTER DC TO AC CRITICAL LOAD
(AC) BATTERY AUTOMATIC SWITCH INVERTER FAIL Maintenance of UPS
Monthly Checks:
Check the inverter output voltage. Check the DC voltages. Check the inverter output current. Press Lamp test to check that all indications are working. Maintenance of UPS
Annual Checks:
In addition to the monthly checks following activities should also be done: Check all the instrument and switches for proper functioning. Check tightness of all connections. In case of strong dust contamination clean the system from dust. Check whether filter mats are dirty. In case of strong contamination it must be replaced. Maintenance of Batteries
Monthly Checks:
Check battery voltage. Check the liquid level and refill is necessary.
Maintenance of Batteries
Annual Checks:
Cell covers, poles and links must be cleaned. Measure and record he voltage of each cell. Check the tightness of connections. Conduct battery capacity test.
