Team AMarn did a project on Rubber band Rocket Shooting. The purpose of this was to figure out
How can we design a rocket to make it go straight and far? The three variables that Team Amarn had
were, the number of rubber bands, length/height, and angle of the shooting. Our hypothesis was that if
your rocket is lightweight then the rocket will be shot farther. Everyday we would focus on things such
as the height it traveled at, if it needed more rubber bands and if the rocket was being shot straight.

The more rubber bands that there are the farther your rocket will travel. We tested a lot of rubber
bands to see if the rocket would go far or no. The first day we put 4 rubber bands together and the
rocket did not go as far as we were hoping for. Then we put 9 rubber bands together and it went really
far. We thought that was cheating so we decided to change that up and decreased the number of
rubber bands to 6. The rocket went far still and we did not feel like we were cheating. The more rubber
bands that there are the more farther the rocket will end up going. This happens because of the force of
every rubber band stretching. Sense the force builds on when you shoot the rocket.

The height/length was another variable that we tested. The higher the rocket goes, the farther the
rocket is going to go. We tried shooting really high to see if the rocket would go farther. We shot at the
ceiling and that did not farther. Then another thing that we did was we shot at the floor. Obviously that
did not work. Then we decided to shoot a littler higher than the floor and little lower than the ceiling.
The higher the rocket is the more quicker it is going to crash. The ceiling gets in the way making the
rocket not go farther but making it crash quicker.

The angle of the shooting was the last thing we focused on. If the angle is at 90 degree angle or 180
degree the rocket is going to travel farther. We tested both the shooting at 180 and 90 degrees. The 90
degree angle was not good but not the best. The 180 degree was straight from our chest which gave us
better persistence of shooting. We shot 180 and the rocket went straighter. As there is an angle of 90 is
straight but not as straight which would make the rocket crash earlier. The 180 degree is a straight line
and the rocket will go straight.

These 3 variables were the variables we tested. Our rocket did not go the farthest but it was still
interesting to know that these 3 things made the rocket testing go straight.
