Sulfuric acid is also known as sulphuric acid and is a highly corrosive acid.

I
t is colorless and pungent-ethereal (). It is soluble in water. Sometimes it c
an be a yellow or dark brown color due to industrial dying. It is commonly pres
ent in auto and marine batteries (car batteries).
SA is corrosive on materials, living tissues and stones. It possesses strong de
hydrating properties as well. Sulfuric acid can cause chemical burns (via hydro
lysis) and secondary thermal burns (via dehydration). It can lead to blindness
if applied to the eyes. Strong safety precautions are required when handling SA.

SA has been used to produce drain cleaners, battery acid (an electrolyte manufac
tured with SA is used in lead batteries), and a variety of cleaning agents. In
chemistry, SA is used for mineral processing, to produce fertilizer, oil refinin
g, and chemical synthesis. It is also used to process wastewater.
Sulfuric acid (SA) has been used many times in history to dissolve a body in a m
urder. It has been reported to reduce the flesh and bones to a sludge within 48
hours. It does not however affect false teeth or similar replacement parts.
When mixed with Hydrogen Peroxide a powerful solution called PIRANHA is produced
. This concoction is powerful enough to etch glass and highly corrosive to bone
, skin and living tissues.
